Wayne Rooney lookalike hunted by police over brawl at a boozer

A WAYNE Rooney lookalike is being hunted by police over a brawl at a boozer.

Cops issued a grainy photo of the suspect in the hope that “someone will recognise him”.

They certainly did, with officers soon being informed he was the spit of the former England, Manchester United and Derby County striker.

Police had launched the appeal over an affray in South Shields, South Tyneside, on December 30 – fittingly at a pub called The Derby.

One Facebook user said of the 37-year-old star, now managing in Washington: “Doubt Wayne Rooney would have been in that neck of the woods.”

Another joked he might be “on the run” from his long-suffering wife Coleen.

The Northumbria Police appeal said of the man: “It is believed he was in the area at the time of the incident.”

A 34-year-old has already been arrested over the incident.

He was released on bail.
