Putin ally admits to meddling in US election
As the United States readies itself for a midterm election, a close ally of Vladimir Putin has admitted to meddling in the country’s democracy.
Russian businessman and founder of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin revealed he has meddled in previous US elections and will continue to do so. He said: “We have interfered, we are interfering, and we will continue to interfere. Carefully, accurately, surgically and in our own way, as we know how to do.”
Meanwhile, Kyiv’s Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, has warned residents of a worst-case scenario in which the capital loses power and water as Putin continues to target their infrastructure.
Mr Klitschko urged Kyiv residents to “consider everything” even “spending some time” with friends or family outside the city.
During a television interview on Saturday, the Ukrainian said: “His (Putin’s) task is for us to die, to freeze, or to make us flee our land so that he can have it. That’s what the aggressor wants to achieve.” The boxing legend also branded Russia’s targeting of infrastructure as “terrorism” and “genocide”.
