two news that divide the fans

Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin spoke briefly about season 2 of The Last of Us. The topics covered: the change of actress for Ellie and the differences between the second game and the rest of the adaptation.

The Last of Us series was the big hit at the start of the year. Every beginning of the week, the adaptation continues to drive up audiences and the first season is already coming to an end today. HBO Max unsurprisingly quickly ordered a season 2 which could arrive sooner than expected. However, if the first part was very faithful to the original material, the sequel could take a new twist during certain passages.

Bella Ramsey back for next season

The final episode of season 1 of The Last of Us series is now available on Amazon Prime Video France. A final that fans of the game know only too well, but season 2 may surprise them. During a press conference, IGN and other American media were able to speak with Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog and Craig Mazin, showrunner of the adaptation. They first returned to the controversy around Bella Ramsey. Many viewers are hoping for a change of actress for season 2 of TLOU, fearing that the current interpreter is too young and frail compared to what awaits the character of Ellie. The two friends are formal: out of the question to replace her, unless Bella asked for it herself.

When we made the game, I felt like we were incredibly lucky. It was unexpected to find Ashley Johnson. I can’t imagine this version of Ellie being played by anyone else. And the same thing happened with Bella. We are really lucky to have him as you have seen throughout the season. The only thing that would make us consider a new cast is if Bella told us ” I don’t want to work with you anymore. »

Craig Mazin opined in the direction of the co-president of Naughty Dog, recalling at the same time that Bella Ramsey is now 19 years old, the age of Ellie in The Last of Us 2. The interested party for her part had shared her excitement about reprising the role of the immune teenager. It is now firmly established that she will resume service in the season of the TLOU series.

The Last of Us series: season 2 with or without Bella Ramsey (Ellie)?

Season 2 of The Last of Us very different from the game?

A question nevertheless burns everyone’s lips, will season 2 of The Last of Us be as faithful to the game? Mazin previously said that the second part of Joel and Ellie’s story would probably take more than a single season to develop. The structure of the sequel is therefore a mystery, especially since TLOU Part 2 takes place in several periods at the same time according to the chapters. Season 1 had taken big liberties, like the fate of Bill and Frank. According to showrunnersuch changes are to be expected in Season 2, which could be “radically” different from what players have been playing.

Season 2 will be different, just like this season was. Sometimes it will be radically different and sometimes it won’t be that much. But it will be different from the game. It will be a separate thing. It won’t be exactly like in the game. This will be the show Neil and I want to do and we’ll do it with Bella.

– Craig Mazin

A simple statement that already alarms some players. How different will The Last of Us season 2 be? What changes will they make? It will take patience to find out.
