NASH, Texas (TCD) — An 18-year-old faces several counts of murder after he allegedly shot and killed four family members inside his home and engaged in a standoff with law enforcement prior to his arrest.
On Tuesday, May 23, at 10:48 a.m., Nash Police Department officers responded to a residence on Lemon Acres for an “unknown issue,” but soon learned there was a person barricaded inside with multiple deceased individuals. A Bowie County Sheriff’s Office negotiator made contact with the suspect, Cesar Olalde, and eventually talked him into surrendering. Police entered the home and located four victims.
Olalde was booked into the Bi-State Jail for capital murder of multiple persons. His bond has been set at $10 million.
The victims were identified in the probable cause affidavit as Aida Garcia, Reuben Olalde, Lisbet Olalde, and Oliver Olalde. He reportedly shot each person “repeatedly.” Cesar Olalde lived at the home on Lemon Acres with his parents, younger brother, and adult sister.
One of Lisbet Olalde’s co-workers, Joseph Flieder, noticed she did not show up for work, so he went to her home to check in. When Flieder got there, Cesar Olalde allegedly told him he “killed the rest of his family.”
Flieder reportedly told investigators Olalde “made statements that he had killed his family because they were cannibals, and they were going to eat him.”
Olalde was reportedly still holding his gun during this interaction and picked up a knife at one point. Olalde called 911 to report that he killed his family and specifically mentioned his father Reuben by name.
According to the affidavit, crime scene investigators found all four family members deceased inside the bathroom. There were spent cartridge casings on the floor and blood spatter all over the home. Investigators believe the victims were all killed elsewhere in the home and dragged into the bathroom.
