The tension was already visibly palpable between the two teams even before kick-off. In effect, Grégory Alldritt, the captain of the Maritimes, confided, in front of the press, at the end of the meeting, that the Irishman and captain of Leinster James Ryan “had disrespected him”during the toss.

Insofar as he had then not wanted to look him in the eye, in remarks reported by Le Figaro : “There were several moments when we felt that the game could change. Already from the toss, they did not respect us. He (James Ryan) didn’t look me in the eye when he shook my hand. And that should not be done…”
