Clara Burel qualified this Thursday for the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Strasbourg. The Frenchwoman will face Elina Svitolina for a place in the final.

Clara Burel continues her merry way to the WTA tournament in Strasbourg. After eliminating Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the first round, seeded number 5, the Frenchwoman confirmed in the next round against Estonian Kaia Kanepi. And this Thursday, the 22-year-old young woman once again thwarted the odds by taking the best of the American Bernarda Pera (6-2, 3-6, 6-4), seeded number 4 in Alsace.

More pragmatic, Clara Burel better mastered the key moments of the match with more break points made (6/11) although she got fewer than the 38th player in the world (5/16). This performance takes Clara Burel to the semi-finals of the tournament where she will challenge the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina this Friday, who has dropped to 508th place in the world. The Habs have never won a trophy on the WTA Tour.

The other semi-final will pit Russian Anna Blinkova against American Lauren Davis.
