This Sunday, the peloton tackles the 15th stage of the Tour of Italy 2023. A total of 195 kilometers is planned between Seregno and Bergamo.

The 2023 edition of the Tour of Italy continues. And even rather ideally for the French clan. Indeed, it will be the first day during which Bruno Armirail will wear the leader’s pink jersey. It will be on the occasion of the 15th stage of this Giro, which takes place this Sunday. The resident of the French cycling group Groupama-FDJ will have to really hang on to hope to be able to keep him for another day. Indeed, for the Pyrenean and the rest of the peloton of this prestigious three-week cycling race, the program promises to be particularly busy.

This 15th stage is a mid-mountain stage. It will be contested between Seregno and Bergamo, on roads located in Lombardy, for a total of 195 kilometers to cover. A total of four ascents are even planned. Among the latter which are therefore listed, we can notably mention that of Roncola Alta, with a long climb of a total of 10 kilometers, with average slopes of 6.7% which can even go up to 17% in places.

Attacks on the last climb?

As for the summit of the latter, it is located about thirty kilometers from the finish. This profile could thus allow, again, a member of a breakaway to win. Whether it is then a backpacker or even a climber. And so perhaps also allow Bruno Armirail to stay in pink, this Sunday evening. If he obviously manages to hold on to the various climbs of the day.

Attention, however, to his runner-up, at the level of the general classification. Indeed, the latter is none other than the Briton Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers). His delay is only 1’41”. It also remains to be seen whether the great leaders of the different teams will decide to attack each other, and in particular during the very last climb. Knowing that there is still a third week of racing.
