POLITICS – 49.3 on the table. This Thursday, March 16, Emmanuel Macron brought together Elisabeth Borne and the majority leaders three times a few hours before an extremely uncertain vote in the National Assembly on pension reform. A little before 3 p.m., a source from the executive indicated that a Council of Ministers ” immediate “ prior to 49.3 had taken place. From multiple sources, the Head of State authorized the Prime Minister to engage the responsibility of the government.
By choosing this option, the executive rules out any risk of rejection of a text that Emmanuel Macron presents as one of the most important of his second five-year term.

The executive waited until the last minutes before the opening of the session in the Assembly to make its decision known. Immediately, the elected representatives of the opposition castigated the use of this constitutional tool.
