Letby, 32, allegedly murdered seven babies and attempted to kill ten others.

Jurors have now been shown footage from the unit – including incubators where premature babies are treated.

Teddy stickers can be seen stuck on the windows of the ward and on noticeboards dotted around the nursery.

Letby had special training in caring for ICU babies who would have been admitted to the unit, Manchester Crown Court previously heard.

The jury were also told how the nurse said she was “having a tough time” to colleagues when four babies died in her care.

In messages read to the court, a nurse told Letby she was “on a terrible run of having very bad luck” after the death of one baby, known as Child E.

She responded by saying she felt “just awful”, adding: “I feel numb”.

The court was told Letby gave the grieving parents of Child E a “memory box” just days after she allegedly murdered him.

It contained his footprints, a lock of his hair, a candle, a teddy and a card with photographs of him on it.

The baby’s mum had walked in on Letby while she was attacking him by injecting him with air, it was said.

She told jurors how her son was screaming “like nothing I’d heard before”.

Letby is also accused of attempting to kill the baby’s twin brother, Child F, by poisoning him with insulin – although he survived.

The court heard previously how Letby was a “constant malevolent presence”.

Some of the newborns were repeatedly targeted by the nurse – including one baby Letby is alleged to have killed after three previous failed attempts.

Consultants at the hospital grew suspicious of the “significant rise” in the number of babies dying or suffering “catastrophic” collapses.

Jurors were told they found Letby was the “one common denominator” among the deaths and collapses.

Letby allegedly declared “I am evil” on a Post-It note found in her home after her arrest.

She is also said to have scrawled: “I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough”

Letby denies all 22 charges, which are said to have taken place between June 2015 and June 2016.

A court order prohibits identifying the surviving and deceased children and prohibits identifying parents or witnesses connected with the babies.

The trial continues.
