Her assailant, Rehan Mujafar, 21, a fellow student in the same law program, carried out the attack after allegedly being rejected in a romantic relationship. The premeditated assault involved a hatchet and a machete that he brought from his home in Bangkinang, Kampar Regency.
Despite the severity of the attack, Farradhila’s martial arts expertise allowed her to defend herself. As a trained member of the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) pencak silat organization, she was able to block and withstand multiple blows that could have been fatal.
Martial Arts Skills Make The Difference
Authorities and faculty members have credited Farradhila’s self-defense abilities for saving her life. Alpi Syahrin, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Sharia and Law, highlighted her strong mental and physical resilience during the attack.
Her training as a martial arts instructor in Tanjung Pinang played a key role. Even after sustaining multiple wounds, she continued to defend herself, said Alpi in a statement to Kompas.com on Friday (27/2/2026).
Faculty members confirmed that Farradhila suffered seven to eight slash wounds, mostly on her hands and arms, as she blocked the assailant’s swings. Her composure and technique prevented the attack from being fatal.
