Saturday evening during a very unbalanced Milan-Sampdoria (5-1), Olivier Giroud offered his first hat-trick with the Italian club.

At 36, Olivier Giroud showed that he was still capable of stacking up goals in some matches. The French international had not scored for two months in Serie A with theAC Milan, but he responded in a resounding way by scoring a hat-trick against the red lantern of the championship, Sampdoria (5-1), Saturday evening at San Siro. His first hat-trick in Italy!

The 2018 world champion concluded in front of the opposing goal on services from Brahim Diaz (9th) and Rafael Leao (68th), and converted a penalty obtained by the Portuguese winger (29th). Leao just opened the entry score (9th), while Diaz, untenable in number 10, scored the goal of 4-1 (63rd).

Milan close to the top 4

In his career, Giroud has already scored 2 hat-tricks with Montpellier, 2 hat-tricks with Arsenal and one with Chelsea, but also a quadruple with Tours in Ligue 2 as well as a quadruple with the Blues in the Champions League, in December 2020 against Sevilla. Here he is with 11 goals in Serie A and 16 in all competitions this season.

The 2022 Italian champions are relaunching in the race for the top 4. They are 5th in the standings, two points behind Inter and one unit behind Lazio (who respectively face Naples and Udinese in the coming days). The Rossoneri finish against Juventus (the current 2nd) and Héllas Verona.
