Arthur Son’s big leap!

Semi-finalist in an ATP tournament for the first time in his life, last week in Montpellier, Arthur Fils made an impressive leap in the rankings, where the young 18-year-old French hopeful climbed to 117th place on Monday.

Arthur Fils on the rise. At only 18 years old, the young French hopeful has just lived in Montpellier a few days ago the best week of his life. The player from Essonne reached the last four in HĂ©rault while participating in one of his first ATP tournaments in the tournament. A first in the form of a card for Fils, who reached the semi-finals by knocking down Richard Gasquet, again French number 1 on Monday, the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, one of the seeds of this Open Sud de France and former member of the Top 10 and Quentin Halys. A victory which had allowed the former winner of the Orange Bowl to become the youngest French semi-finalist on the circuit since Gasquet in 2004. The player trained by Laurent Raymond could even have afforded his first final.

Son climbs 46 places!

In the semi-finals, against the future winner Jannik Sinner, the revelation of the week on the French side indeed benefited from two set points, without managing to convert them. Son will easily console himself by discovering the new ATP ranking. His magnificent career in Montpellier, less than a month after winning in Portugal (in Oeiras) his first tournament on the Challenger circuit (which at the time allowed him to enter for the first time in his young career in the 200 first in the world), indeed allows the Parisian to make an impressive leap of 46 places. The new French sensation, promised to a very bright future, finds himself 117th. To date, this is obviously his best ranking. But his progress is probably far from over.
