Buichi Terasawa’s cult manga Cobra is back in video games with a new title and it’s a French publisher who has won the jackpot. All the details.
After the Grendizer game, the French company Microids won the rights to develop a new Cobra game. A title in collaboration with TMS Entertainment, the company behind the animated series.
A Franco-Japanese Cobra game is coming to consoles and PC…
Asterix, Grendizer and now Cobra, Microids likes to tackle franchises that thrilled older and later generations (thanks to the power of transmission!). The French publisher specifies that we will obviously play the galactic bounty hunter, within a “futuristic and colorful universe”. A game that wants to be faithful to the animated series produced by TMS Entertainment, which will precisely ensure the grain.
We are delighted to be working on this adaptation of Cobra, a legendary anime that has marked millions of viewers around the world. We are committed to respecting the universe and the characters created by Buichi Terasawa, while offering an immersive gaming experience that is faithful to the spirit of the series. The Cobra game promises to be a great adventure for fans and players looking for a rich and captivating universe.
Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids, via press release.
The love of the cult saga and the precedents of Microids works convinced TMS Entertainment to trust them.
We were impressed by the passion and professionalism of the Microids team, and we are convinced that Cobra lovers will be delighted to discover this new video game. We can’t wait to see the final result, which promises to delight fans.
Tadashi Takezaki, CEO of TMS Entertainment, via press release.
…but we’ll have to wait
That’s the good news. On the other hand, if you are in a hurry, there is a bad one. For the moment, this new Cobra game expected on consoles and PC is only in pre-production. Suffice to say that it will take some time before you get your hands on it.
