a Netflix drama with unbearable suspense

The series Stranger, available on Netflix, immerses us in a breathtaking investigation from start to finish carried by grandiose actors.

Have you had your American series quota? While season 4 of YOU just ended, you might be looking for such an unbearable suspenseful production. Even if Joe Goldberg has a certain charisma and YOU a unique atmosphere, there are series that are just as thrilling… in Korean cinema. No, South Korea does not only offer mushy productions on Netflix. Many Korean series immerse us in perfectly paced investigations that will easily keep you in suspense. One of them is called Stranger (also named secret forest And Bimilui Soop in OV). Believe us, it is definitely worth the detour.

Stranger, an exciting investigation in the heart of Seoul

Stranger tells the story of Hwang Si-Mok, a prosecutor who no longer feels any emotion due to brain surgery he suffered as a child. The man will be led to investigate a case mixing corruption and murder which directly involves the Seoul West office, where he exercises. In Stranger, Cho Seung Woo delivers a masterful performance, as does Bae Doona. The Korean star (Sense8, Kingdom, The Host…) plays a major role in this absolutely fascinating thriller. The exquisite staging completely immerses us in Stranger, a series that plays with the viewer by multiplying the reversals of the situation. A dive into the heart of the Korean judicial system which takes a particular turn in season 2.

A season 2 less well paced, but still very successful

The cast of the series is strong. You will easily recognize many actors from the most popular Korean dramas. In Strangerwe get attached to the characters quickly and we ask for more at the end of each episode.

Season 2 of Stranger, although less significant, also deserves your full interest. The show takes a little longer to immerse us in the plot, but the science of directing still hits the mark. If you like the work of screenwriter and director Lee Su Yeon, you will find her and a good part of the cast of Stranger In Life, also available on Netflix. Do you prefer series with a touch of romance? We advise you to go for Flower of Evil.
